Wondering what Ayurvedic medicine recommends around the time of the full moon? It's not just the best time to make our ghee! Check out these rituals for the most magical full moon experience according to Ayurveda.

  1. Soothing Moon Bath: Draw a warm bath with a few drops of cooling essential oils like sandalwood, rose, or jasmine. Add a handful of Epsom salts and a few tablespoons of raw milk or coconut milk for extra hydration. This ritual soothes the body and calms any full-moon agitation in the mind.

  2. Lunar Pranayama (Breathing Practice): Practice Chandra Bhedana (Moon-Piercing Breath), which involves inhaling through the left nostril and exhaling through the right. This technique cools and calms the body and mind, balancing any excess energy or heat from the full moon’s effects.

  3. Grounding Oil Massage: Perform a gentle self-massage (abhyanga) with cooling, grounding oils like coconut or sesame. Focus on slow, calming strokes to ground yourself and soothe heightened emotions that can arise with the full moon energy.

  4. Calming Herbs and Teas: Sip on a calming herbal tea blend with chamomile, lavender, or Brahmi to ease the mind and support restful sleep. Full moons can sometimes disrupt sleep patterns, so these herbs help you stay balanced and relaxed.

  5. Cooling, Hydrating Foods: Enjoy light, hydrating foods like cucumber, coconut, and fresh fruits. Avoid overly spicy, salty, or sour foods that might increase heat and intensity. Incorporate a bit of sweet taste to soothe and balance Pitta energy.

  6. Journaling with Full Moon Intentions: The full moon is a perfect time for reflection and release. Try journaling on what’s been holding you back and set intentions to let it go. A calm, clear mind can bring deeper insights.

  7. Moon Gazing Meditation: If possible, spend a few minutes in Trataka, or gazing meditation, while looking at the moon. Focus on the moon’s image and take in its light, which can be very soothing to the nervous system, cultivating a sense of peace and tranquility.

These Ayurvedic tips can help harmonize your energy with the moon’s cycles and create a deeply nourishing ritual. Enjoy!
