The November Mantra of the Month is "Sita Ram" - A Diwali Chant for Love and Balance

As we step into November and in celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, La Colmena Collective introduces our Mantra of the Month: "Sita Ram." This mantra, evoking the divine union of Sita and Ram, symbolizes love, balance, and the triumph of light over darkness; exactly what we celebrate in Diwali. Rooted in Hindu mythology, Sita represents the embodiment of the Earth’s nurturing qualities, while Ram signifies strength, virtue, and righteousness. Together, they inspire a harmonious balance within and around us.

Why Chant "Sita Ram" During Diwali?

Diwali, is a time for new beginnings, inner clarity, and connecting with loved ones. It marks Lord Ram’s return to his kingdom after a long exile, symbolizing the return of hope and light. Chanting “Sita Ram” helps us invite love, balance, and resilience into our own lives, allowing us to honor the spirit of unity and renewal that Diwali embodies.

A simple chant

The mantra “Sita Ram Jai Jai Ram, Sita Ram Jai Jai Ram” translates to:

  • Sita and Ram refer to the divine couple, representing love, harmony, and balance.

  • Jai Jai means “Victory” or “Praise.”

So, the mantra can be understood as “Victory to Sita and Ram” or “Praise to Sita and Ram.” It is a chant that celebrates the qualities of love, strength, and unity embodied by Sita and Ram, inviting these energies into the heart and into one’s life. If you are new to mantra practice this is a great one to start with. It is very accessible!
