Mudra of the Month: Varada Mudra
Meaning: The Gesture of Giving and Compassion
How to Practice Varada Mudra:
Position: Sit comfortably in a meditative posture or stand in Tadasana (Mountain Pose).
Hand Placement: Place your left hand on your knee, palm facing outward. Let your fingers naturally extend downward, symbolizing the flow of generosity and compassion.
Optional: Rest your right hand in your lap in Chin Mudra (thumb and index finger touching).
Focus: Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Visualize a steady stream of kindness and abundance flowing from your palm to the world.
Benefits of Varada Mudra:
Promotes Compassion: Opens the heart and inspires selfless acts of kindness, fostering deeper empathy.
Enhances Grounding: Connects you to the earth element, bringing stability and calm to your practice.
Encourages Generosity: Cultivates a mindset of giving and sharing, both emotionally and materially.
Balances Energy: Helps release fears of scarcity, encouraging trust in abundance.
Context for June 2025:
The June Full Moon in Sagittarius inspires exploration and sharing wisdom. Varada Mudra complements this energy, encouraging us to extend our inner light outward through acts of service and generosity. In Vedic astrology, this is a potent time to focus on dharma (one’s purpose) and seva (selfless service). Practicing Varada Mudra aligns your intentions with universal abundance, reminding you that what you give is often returned multifold.
Intention for the Month:
“I open my heart to give freely and receive abundantly, trusting in the infinite flow of compassion and abundance.”
Use Varada Mudra during meditation or as part of your morning ritual this June to harmonize with the season’s energy, fostering a sense of openness, generosity, and connection.
